Serah’s Hideaway on Langa Langa Lagoon, Malaita Province, Solomon Islands

OVERVIEW.

It has been two months since I arrived in the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific to direct an infrastructure project.

The Solomons gained their independence from the United Kingdom in the 1970’s. There are nine main island groups, and an additional some 900 islands. They are located east of Papua New Guinea and northeast of Australia.

The temperature here hovers around 87F, or 31C. Walking city streets during the day can be taxing.

The capital city of Honiara, on the island of Guadalcanal, has several good restaurants. My previous post covered the French restaurant.

Today I am sharing random shots of food and wine here.

2. SCENE & INSIDER ANGLES.

For quality of food (and in some cases, wine) the best restaurants are:

  • Le Cinquieme, also known as Le Havanah, in the Hotel Honiara. Excellent French food and South African/New Zealand wines.
  • Tenkai Sushi Cafe. Beautiful tastes.
  • Coral Sea Resort. Their waterfront bar/restaurant includes good nibbles and wine.

3. PHOTOS FROM TRAVELS IN THE SOLOMON ISLANDS

Some general photos I took within the Solomon Islands are included below.

Langa Langa Lagoon is adjacent to the island (and province) of Malaita, which can be reached via a 2.5 hour boat – the Auki Express—from the capital city of Honiara on the island of Guadalcanal.
