Overview.
I recently drove two hours south into Spain for an overnight trip. I first visited the Terra Remota winery, then had dinner in a magical little village name Besalú. The next morning I drove into the town of Figueres and visited the Salvador Dali museum.
Besalú is a small, attractive village in the northwestern Catalonian region of Spain, located about 2.5 hours from where I live in France. It is renowned for a long medieval stone arch bridge, as well as its open square and ambience.

The bridge was first built in 1075 to protect the villagers from invaders and provide access to during floods. It was improved in 1315 and 1395, with defense towers added. Also improved again in 1680, and in the 1960s.
I sat outside on the terrace and ate an excellent, great value dinner at Restaurant Cúria Reial, with a view of the bridge.

Insights and Explorations.
The Salvador Dali museum in the town of Figueres in Catalonia in northeast Spain is intriguing. Best to book your tickets in advance online. The artist was certainly a prolific, big thinker.
Terra Remota Winery.
This winery is an hour and a half drive south of Narbonne in France, or an hour forty five minutes north of Barcelona in Spain. Run by a French couple. The husband had worked as an lawyer before shifting professional geats. The grounds are spacious with beautiful views and the wines are very good.
