Travel For Three To Pompeii, Paestum And Positano In Italy

Overview.
I spent two nights staying at an agriturismo rest house in the hills of the Sorrento Peninsula, in the highlands of the town of Vico Equense (and wrote about this on a Facebook social media post.)
For dinner after a day at Pompeii, I visited the local seafood restaurant Antichi Sapori (Ancient Flavors). The drive was confusing but the food excellent.
Dishes.
Amuse Bouche.
Gamberetti impanati. Breaded shrimp.
Paired with a glass of Trentodoc sparkling Italian wine.
Antipasti.
Seppia finocchi e noci. Cuttlefish with fennel and walnuts.
Paired with local Fiano di Avellino wine from producer Colli di Lapio. Crisp and zesty.
Secondi di Pesce.
Pezzogna grigliata con olio d’oliva, sale e limone. Grilled sea bream with olive oil, salt and lemon.
Paired with the same Fiano di Avellino wine.
Dessert.
Millefoglie. Mille Feuille.
Paired with wine or local grappa.
The father son team running the restaurant were experienced, cordial and friendly. Fantastic!

Insights.
This was a lively dining experience, and by 9:15 the restaurant was filled with boisterous locals. Ready my FB social media post about the dinner here. Or you can read another post at my Instagram account here.
Recipes.
I am occasionally publishing select recipes from my forthcoming book Cellar Cuisine—Winemakers’ Recipes From Around The World on the non-private Vino Voices Instagram site. Here is the recipe for Zucchini Cucumber Gazpacho Soup from Château La Rose Bellevue in Bordeaux.
