Recent Writings.

My recent Forbes articles cover both a 176 kilometer (109 mile) trail run around Mont Blanc in France, an interview with the CEO of Accor who sponsors the French America’s Cup race team and a Bordeaux woman who is using unique grapes to create feisty flavors. Also—an interview with a French/American winemaker based in Napa Valley, and 14 wines to consider for any long afternoon lunch during autumn.

Now back to earth and ocean.

Overview.

I recently had the fortune to spend time at the America’s Cup yacht races in Barcelona, Spain, with French Team Orient Express. Team Leader Stephan Kandler is not only a neighbor and friend near my new home in southern France, but also a talented winemaker.

Event.

At the Barcelona Harbor Orient Express race village the chef treats team members and visitors to amazing foods and wines. Domaine des Pentelines, from the Rhone Valley, is actually owned by team leader Kandler. I visited last year. The wines are excellent at very reasonable prices.

Dinner.

We selected Bar Brutal, based on a recommendation of a friend in my home town of Caunes-Minervois in southern France. The wine list is impressive and the food excellent. The sommelier was astounding and this dinner was slow paced and enjoyable.
