Saint Patrick’s Day, 2010 – a festive day to begin a web log.
After years spent traveling through various countries and interviewing more than fifty people – I am now writing a new book.  This blog will highlight how the work is coming along, reveal sneak peeks of the material, and include snippets and interviews.
The tentative title of the book is Vino Expressions – People, Wine, and Loving Work.   It’s about people involved in the world of wine who love their work.  No, it’s not just because they can catch a buzz by sampling vino at all hours.  It’s about pride, craftsmanship, working the land, and pursuing quality.  It’s about community and commitment, variety and surprise.  It’s about having fun.  The stories are about wine and women, wine and men, wine and travel, and wine and food.
The book will include wisdom collected on the road from people associated with the world of wine.  Occasionally I’ll add a new post – clueing you into some topic the book will cover.  This might be about Hollywood workers fleeing to Paso Robles to make wine from Rhone varietals  to save their sanity.   It might tell why wine grown on lava rocks on islands in the middle of the Atlantic tastes so sinfully good, or provide the low down from a convict on how he made jail house wine.
Wine is about people.  I may know only a little about wine, but enjoy meeting and learning from people who dedicate their lives toward improving its quality.  This group includes not only wine makers, but cork producers, barrel makers, writers, and many others.
Thanks for joining this tour.  I appreciate all constructive suggestions.
